WorldBridge History
WorldBridge’s founders and management team are among the world’s pioneers in the global outsourcing and offshore services market. They have developed two companies similar to this while accessing labor in India. These two companies service major U.S. accounts from subsidiaries in India.
- HealthScribe, Inc., (now known as Spheris, www.spheris.com) was one of the first companies in India providing outsourced, real-time connectivity for back office processing for multiple clients. The Company was started in 1993. It is now majority-owned by Soros Private Equity, employs over 4,000 people with approximately $150 million in revenues and is the second largest company servicing the $20 billion U.S. medical business processes industry. The founding team divested itself of much of its ownership interest in 1998 and finally in 2004.
- FirstRing, Inc., (now known as ICICIOneSource, www.icicionesource.com) was started by the same founding team in 1998. FirstRing provided customer service and telesales to American Express, Morgan Stanley’s Discover Financial Services, Providian Financial Services and others. FirstRing was acquired by ICICI, the second largest bank in India. Now ICICIOneSource, it is one of India's leading business process outsourcing (BPO) providers with over 3000 employees and $50 million in revenues. FirstRing’s founders initially exited in 2001 and finally in 2003.
- In 2005, WBI acquired a call center in Cape Town servicing large international corporations' South African customers. Clients include Coca-Cola, KFC, and Parmalat, to name a few. WBI is in the initial stages of servicing the first US-based customers.
