WorldBridge International's managment team set up one of the first companies in India providing outsourced, real-time connectivity for back office processing for US multiple clients. India was chosen as our first offshore service location in 1993. India was selected because of two strategic advantages. First, the workforce is the lowest cost and the most highly educated English-speaking workforce anywhere. And second, the global telecommunication connectivity is of the highest reliability.
That company, HealthScribe, Inc. (now known as Spheris, www.spheris.com) , is now the third largest medical transcription company worldwide addressing the $7 billion US medical transcription industry. Healthscribe is now majority-owned by Soros Private Equity, employs over 4,000 people with approximately $150 million in revenues and is the second largest company servicing the $20 billion U.S. medical business processes industry. The founding team divested itself of much of its ownership interest in 1998 and finally in 2004.
Following HealthScribe, the first US call center company with the service center in India servicing multiple US companies was founded. The company, FirstRing, Inc., is the leader today with six large Fortune 500 clients from the following industries: financial services, travel and hospitality, information technology, and security.
FirstRing, Inc., (now known as ICICIOneSource, www.icicionesource.com) was started by the same founding team in 1998. FirstRing provided customer service and telesales to American Express, Morgan Stanley’s Discover Financial Services, Providian Financial Services and others. FirstRing was acquired by ICICI, the second largest bank in India. Now ICICIOneSource, it is one of India's leading business process outsourcing (BPO) providers with over 3000 employees and $50 million in revenues. FirstRing’s founders initially exited in 2001 and finally in 2003.
WorldBridge’s founders and management team are among the world’s pioneers in the global outsourcing and offshore services market and have assisted with the implementation and development of BPO industry initiatives with companies and governmental agencies in South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Fuji.
